What We Do

Real programs. Real impact. Serving children, families, and the Winchester community every week.

Service in Action

Real Work, Real Impact — Every Week

Since 1922, the Kiwanis Club of Winchester has organized dozens of programs and thousands of service hours — each one making a direct, tangible difference for our neighbors.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP

K Clubs & Sponsored Youth Clubs

Kiwanis sponsors youth leadership and service clubs across Winchester-area schools. Our Key Clubs at Handley, James Wood, and Millbrook High Schools give teens the chance to lead real service projects, while our Builder's Clubs at Frederick County, James Wood, and Daniel Morgan Middle Schools introduce younger students to peer-led community service. We also support a Circle K chapter at the college level.

Our Signature Event

Community Pancake Day

Pancake Day is our signature annual fundraiser and one of Winchester's most beloved traditions. Every spring the club cooks and serves a literal ton of sausage and thousands of pancakes — and proceeds fund local grants, scholarships, youth programs, and organizations serving children and families.

Seasonal Traditions

When the Holidays Come to Town

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Every holiday season, members brave the cold to staff Salvation Army donation kettles around Winchester. Our consistent coverage helps the Salvation Army raise funds for food, shelter, and emergency assistance programs that serve thousands of families.

Year-Round Service

Showing Up All Year Long

Red Cross Blood Drives

Several times a year, members team up with the American Red Cross to organize and staff blood drives, coordinate logistics, and donate themselves. Each donation can save up to three lives.

Multiple / Year

Highway Cleanup

Twice a year, members suit up in safety gear to clear a designated two-mile stretch of road near Winchester — collecting litter and debris to keep our roadways clean and beautiful.

Twice / Year

Scholarships

Kiwanis awards scholarships to outstanding Key Club members who've shown a real commitment to service and leadership — investing directly in the future of our most dedicated young volunteers.
